Alrighty! Let's pick right up where we left off, shall we? So - backtracking to the end of week 2. :)
Day 14 - 8.21.13 - Normally, Wednesdays are my days off, but I had some extra time on my hands at work after finishing everything that I had to do, so I made it a nostalgia square. :) Now, growing up, one of my favorite shows was the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, and yes, Tommy was my favorite.... but my favorite incarnation of Tommy's character was his Zeo form. So this one is in honor of my first celebrity crush, Tommy Oliver (aka Jason David Frank) and his Zeo Ranger V: Red form. :) [For those who don't know, 2 things: 1) This year is MMPR's 20th anniversary, so yay! and 2) Tommy's Zeo helmet was red with a star-shaped visor... thus this pattern and coloration... ^^)
Day 14 - 8.21.13 (part 2)- As it is the end of week 2 - here's a quick photo of all of the new squares completed this week... I'm down 1 from last week, making this week's total haul 10 squares.
Day 14 - 8.21.13 (part 3) - I really wanted to see what both weeks' squares would look like all together, so I got them all out and arranged them in no particular order just to see the colors all pop out at me like this. I have to say, I'm really loving working on this blanket and can't wait to see how it will all turn out!!
Day 15 - 8.22.13 - The beginning of week 3 and the week gets kicked off with a bang with 3 new squares!
Square 1- Yes, I'm a lifelong Hanson fan, so yes, that's an orange square (for their first album, Middle of Nowhere with this song that should bring back memories for ya) with a field of white. Originally, I wanted to make their logo around this circle, but wound up going smaller with the stitching and putting the whole logo on the field of white (thought it'd look too cramped otherwise.) **For those who can't stand the original version, try the current version of the song, with older voices and a really cool acoustic sound.
Square 2 - This pattern was out of a book that I had called a "blushing grannies square" and I really wanted to show off my & my hubby's favorite colors... but hunter green and navy blue didn't quite look well together... so I used brighter shades and came up with this square. I think I like this one!
Square 3 - Now that the test square turned out well (^^') I used claret & silver for this one. (I like the way the silver looks almost like a snowflake!!) The reason for these colors? They're the ones from my wedding! Hubby noticed that since this blanket is filled with squares of people, places, events, characters, etc that there was a distinct lack of this being represented... so I wanted to add this one in here. ^^ It's the only one not 100% done by photo time (needed to be edged out and ends woven in).
Day 16 - 8.23.13 - 3 more squares!! (I'd hoped to make it the theme for this week... but alas, it wasn't to be... you'll see why with day 17.)
Square 1 - I've had a LOT going on with my mind lately. Too much on it and not enough time and resources to adequately deal with it all... so my mind is just fragmented. To paraphrase Moonlight Densetsu (the Japanese opening theme for Sailor Moon, my favorite anime!), "My [mind] is like a kaleidoscope." To say I feel somewhat scattered these days is an understatement.
Squares 2 & 3 - This is the pattern I'd originally wanted to use for hubby dear's square, an open cross. Yes, I'm a Christian, but that's not the point behind these two. I had a dream a few years ago, and I can still remember it vividly. I saw 2 children, and I can still describe them to you... they were ours. I fully believe that God had promised those two children to us, and these are for them... before I ever am pregnant with them, my children are already represented in my blanket. :)
Day 17 - 8.24.13 - yeah, curve breaker day. :/ I'd hoped to keep up with my 3 squares a day routine that I'd been working on, but it was *supposed* to be our game day... everyone bailed, and so I made this quick square for my adopted sister using all three of her favorite colors. I still love how the silver looks like a snowflake!
Day 18 - 8.25.13 - Yay! Back to 3! And also, it's the first half a a series of 6 that I want to do. Yes, they're MLP:FiM themed - my "minimalist mane 6" series. So yes, that's Twilight Sparkle (with a stitched on 6 pointed star, because I couldn't find a workable applique for it), Fluttershy (with the same butterfly pattern used on the backpack), and Pinkie Pie (3 magic circles, 10 dc, sl st, tr tr, sl st, tie off - instant balloon!). I hope to finish the set within the next few days: Applejack, Rarity, Rainbow Dash. :)
Hope you enjoyed seeing the newest squares! I'll post more in about another week or so. :)
Until next time!
