WIP: Patchwork Crochet Blanket - parts (end of) 2 & (part of) 3

Alrighty! Let's pick right up where we left off, shall we?  So - backtracking to the end of week 2. :)

Day 13 - 8.20.13 - This started out as a modified wagon wheel that turned into a traditional granny. I've not seen anything like this (I'm sure more experienced folks have), but I thought it was unique, so I ran with it.  This square is for my husband, who is worth a bit of creativity, in my opinion!  I like the fact that it has the ring in the center, like a wedding ring - so I'm kind of appreciating the symbolism here... This isn't the original pattern I'd wanted to do - you'll see it on day 16 though. I guess that particular pattern wasn't meant for my hubby dear.

Day 14 - 8.21.13 - Normally, Wednesdays are my days off, but I had some extra time on my hands at work after finishing everything that I had to do, so I made it a nostalgia square. :)  Now, growing up, one of my favorite shows was the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, and yes, Tommy was my favorite.... but my favorite incarnation of Tommy's character was his Zeo form. So this one is in honor of my first celebrity crush, Tommy Oliver (aka Jason David Frank) and his Zeo Ranger V: Red form. :)  [For those who don't know, 2 things: 1) This year is MMPR's 20th anniversary, so yay! and 2) Tommy's Zeo helmet was red with a star-shaped visor... thus this pattern and coloration... ^^)

Day 14 - 8.21.13 (part 2)- As it is the end of week 2 - here's a quick photo of all of the new squares completed this week... I'm down 1 from last week, making this week's total haul 10 squares.

Day 14 - 8.21.13 (part 3) - I really wanted to see what both weeks' squares would look like all together, so I got them all out and arranged them in no particular order just to see the colors all pop out at me like this. I have to say, I'm really loving working on this blanket and can't wait to see how it will all turn out!!

Day 15 - 8.22.13 - The beginning of week 3 and the week gets kicked off with a bang with 3 new squares!
Square 1- Yes, I'm a lifelong Hanson fan, so yes, that's an orange square (for their first album, Middle of Nowhere with this song that should bring back memories for ya) with a field of white. Originally, I wanted to make their logo around this circle, but wound up going smaller with the stitching and putting the whole logo on the field of white (thought it'd look too cramped otherwise.)  **For those who can't stand the original version, try the current version of the song, with older voices and a really cool acoustic sound.
Square 2 - This pattern was out of a book that I had called a "blushing grannies square" and I really wanted to show off my & my hubby's favorite colors... but hunter green and navy blue didn't quite look well together... so I used brighter shades and came up with this square. I think I like this one!
Square 3 - Now that the test square turned out well (^^') I used claret & silver for this one. (I like the way the silver looks almost like a snowflake!!)  The reason for these colors? They're the ones from my wedding! Hubby noticed that since this blanket is filled with squares of people, places, events, characters, etc that there was a distinct lack of this being represented... so I wanted to add this one in here. ^^ It's the only one not 100% done by photo time (needed to be edged out and ends woven in).

Day 16 - 8.23.13 - 3 more squares!! (I'd hoped to make it the theme for this week... but alas, it wasn't to be... you'll see why with day 17.)
Square 1 - I've had a LOT going on with my mind lately. Too much on it and not enough time and resources to adequately deal with it all... so my mind is just fragmented. To paraphrase Moonlight Densetsu (the Japanese opening theme for Sailor Moon, my favorite anime!), "My [mind] is like a kaleidoscope."  To say I feel somewhat scattered these days is an understatement.
Squares 2 & 3 - This is the pattern I'd originally wanted to use for hubby dear's square, an open cross. Yes, I'm a Christian, but that's not the point behind these two.  I had a dream a few years ago, and I can still remember it vividly. I saw 2 children, and I can still describe them to you... they were ours. I fully believe that God had promised those two children to us, and these are for them... before I ever am pregnant with them, my children are already represented in my blanket. :)

Day 17 - 8.24.13 - yeah, curve breaker day. :/  I'd hoped to keep up with my 3 squares a day routine that I'd been working on, but it was *supposed* to be our game day... everyone bailed, and so I made this quick square for my adopted sister using all three of her favorite colors. I still love how the silver looks like a snowflake!

Day 18 - 8.25.13 - Yay! Back to 3!  And also, it's the first half a a series of 6 that I want to do. Yes, they're MLP:FiM themed - my "minimalist mane 6" series.  So yes, that's Twilight Sparkle (with a stitched on 6 pointed star, because I couldn't find a workable applique for it), Fluttershy (with the same butterfly pattern used on the backpack), and Pinkie Pie (3 magic circles, 10 dc, sl st, tr tr, sl st, tie off - instant balloon!).  I hope to finish the set within the next few days: Applejack, Rarity, Rainbow Dash. :)

Hope you enjoyed seeing the newest squares!  I'll post more in about another week or so. :)

Until next time!

My $30 shoulder shrug

Well, as promised, here's the shoulder shrug that I made!  I got the pattern from Mrs. Kim who owns Rabbit Moon and it took me 2 skeins of Malabrigo Rios in Zarzamora and took about 2 days and 2 hours to finish. :)  I wish I could show you a photo from the front, but my clothes didn't want to work with me and I'm not up for revealing my face just yet. :)

This was the first pattern that I ever did that wasn't labelled 'beginner.'  I was pretty well excited to accomplish this one!

All it consists of is chaining this pieces as long as you want it to be then just double crochet in the 4th chain from the hook then chain 1, and repeat in every other stitch until you get to the end of the row - I chained 4 to count as a dc plus a ch1.  Rows 2 and on (until it gets as long as you want it to) you double crochet in the ch-1 space then add another ch-1 - that's pretty much it until you get it as long as you want, then go around the piece in single crochet once, then fold the rectangular cloth in half and stitch the arms together.  I went for the corners, and inch on both sides of the corners and it works for me, it's breezy and loose. It wore very well and I got a lot of compliments on it. :)

I want to say that Mrs. Kim got the pattern through Ravelry or Lion Brand yarn's website - if I find it, I'll link it here. :)

Sorry this post is kind of short... it's been a long day and I'm almost contemplating going to bed early... and it's only 7:30pm! >_O

WIP: Patchwork Crochet Blanket - parts 1 & (most of) 2

Hey everyone!  Sorry I've not updated lately... I've been busy lately and had a lot going on, but yes! I'm still here, I'm still alive, and I'm still crocheting my blasted fingers off!

About 2 weeks ago (Wednesday will be day 14) I started a project. I've been snapping photos daily and posting them on my personal Facebook page - almost kind of like a scrapbook... but then I remembered, "Dork! Not everyone can SEE your FB page!"  So, lovelies, get ready for a picture-heavy blog entry!

Here's the rules for this little project of mine:
1) I have to crochet one square each day. (I want individuality - at least in color, if not in pattern, too.)
2) Each square must have a meaning behind it (whether it's a character, person, event, etc.)
3) I *have* to have one night off each week!  For me, this would be Wednesday. I attend a prayer meeting service on Sundays and Wednesdays, but with work and trying to rush, rush, rush to get a bite of dinner & get to prayer meeting on time - I just don't have time (usually) to get a square done on Wednesdays.  For me, this is "catch up night" where I finish up the squares (whether getting them edged out in black or weaving in the ends), and when I post the whole week's worth of squares in one photo.

So - on to the photos!

Day 1 - 8.8.13 -  I wanted to kick this project off with a bang, so double the yarn - double the fun! Square 1 - This is a two-fer for me. Not only does it represent MLP:FiM's Fluttershy, but it's also for my adopted brother (who's favorite character IS Fluttershy!)
Square 2 - This one is an event square. I had JUST completed my first non-beginner pattern two days before I started this project.  I used Malabrigo Rios in Zarzamora and I LOOOOOOVE the way the purples and greens all blend in together.  I used the same stitch pattern as the shoulder shrug I crocheted using this to commemorate that particular project.  It at least finished off the remainder of the second skein of the Malabrigo!

Day 2 - 8.9.13 - Another two-fer - This one is for MLP:FiM's Applejack.  The wagon-wheel pattern made me think of an apple, so I used that particular pattern for her.  The character very much reminds me of my adopted sister.

Day 3 - 8.10.13 - Another two-fer! Yes, another MLP:FiM character - but this time, it's a different member of the Apple Family - Big Macintosh! In a lot of ways, my husband reminds me of Big Mac - strong, silent, hardworking, family oriented, and doesn't usually like to waste words.  Hubby dear usually says more when he's really got something on his mind.  He's a strong fan of the following quote by Abraham Lincoln, "It's better to remain silent and thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt."  While my husband isn't a fool, he believes in thinking before he speaks... I should do that more... >.>"

Day 4: 8.11.13 - It was a Crochet Extravaganza!  I had to work today and there was a bit of spare time, so I figured "What the hey!"  I finished 2 of these at work, the other three at home.
Square 1: MLP:FiM's Pinkie Pie!  I'm quite a lot like her in many ways, and yes, she is my favorite character... so I made myself a square. :)  How's about them apples?! XD
Square 2: MLP:FiM's Princess Celestia got a different pattern than the typical granny square.  I saw a pattern for a mitered granny square... then saw these four colors in my tote... and it reminded me of Celestia's hair... Unfortunately in the photo, the green looks a bit washed out next to the robin's egg blue... but oh well, onward!
Square 3: MLP:FiM's Derpy Hooves!  She doesn't get a lot of love in the show, so I'm showing her some here.  For some reason, this checkerboard pattern reminded me of bubbles... so yeah... Derpy!
Square 4: The first non-pony square!  ...and it's for my biological brother!  His favorite color is purple... however, the two stripes of green have their own meaning: first, his wife adores frogs and various shades of green. The second is for his "alter ego" named Dave... Dave is, in all actuality, a puppet his character made in a D&D campaign out of a severed green dragon wyrmling's head... We loved it so much that he's decided to keep that character even out of game play. I find it hilarious and an extension of my brother, so it works... sounds crazy, but it really works.
Square 5: The second non-pony square! ...and it's for my dad!  My dad's BIG into racing.  Not NASCAR, but actual dirt track racing. He's done it for years... longer than I've been alive. I used to tell my friends that, growing up, I had a drug problem... I got drug (yes, Southern past-tense of dragged) from this race track to that race track, and so on and so on... XD  But I digress... if you squint and turn it sideways a bit, it might start to remind one of a checkered flag. :)  Which my dad's won a lot of those! <3

Days 5 & 6 / 8.12.13 & 8.13.13 - I had to put Day 5 and 6 together for one simple reason. I was halfway done with the first square when a power line caught on fire across the street from my house... power went out... didn't get cut back on until after I'd gone to bed.  Oh well... Everyone and every thing is fine, and I wound up having a two part Nostalgia Night:
Square 1 (Day 5) - this one is to commemorate my high school football team. I couldn't honestly care any less than what I already do about most of my public school experience. K-2 were awesome, and with some very extremely rare exceptions, I'd like to forget about most of my public school experience. However, you have to know where you've come from to know where you are, and to help figure out where you're going in your life... The team symbolized by the black and gold is a part of my past that I'd like to forget, though...
Square 2 (day 6) - this one is to commemorate my junior college's teams... I couldn't care less about sports, but I loved the people there!  My literature, history, and choir professors were absolutely wonderful!  I met some of my best friends there!  It was the best educational experience for me, and I treasure those memories.

Day 7 - 8.14.13 - Well, that was the end of week 1 - Granted, the Fluttershy square looks a quite a bit washed out (thanks to the "correct photo" feature on my computer) but it's okay.... All of them were edged, but I still need to weave in the ends.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 Day 8 - 8.15.13 - I got the second week kicked off well. :)  3 new squares, 3 separate patterns. :)
Square 1 - A G3 pony square, rather than G4 (MLP:FiM) - Minty!  This one is for one of my college buddies who loves the character. I wanted to incorporate her into my blanket, and so now here she is, represented with her very own Minty square!
Square 2 - This one is for the very first fanfiction ring that I wrote with. It was said: "We're all pretty well froot loops around here, anyway."  So that's what we called ourselves - the Froot Loops. :) Each of us had our own color that we used as our pen name: I was Orange. Purple was my best friend at the time (still a good friend), her cousin was Green (who did the fabulous accompanying artwork!).  My younger cousins are symbolized in Blue and Red.  I didn't quite have enough room for Yellow. :( (Although she is remembered, and was/is Green's best friend.)
Square 3- another square for my dad. The more I looked at the wagon-wheel, the more I kept thinking of how it looked like a tire... so I made one using the same colors as his last square. :)

 Day 9 - 8.16.13 - A two-square kind of day. :)
Square 1 - This one took the longest to do today... it's actually 2 separate pieces with the white circular piece (made with the magic circle) whip stitched tightly onto the square.  This square is for my mom, who is very special to me.  She and my aunt call themselves the "Blue Haired Bingo Buddies" and go to play Bingo quite often. The 24 has a special meaning, too... and no, I'm not saying!
Square 2 - This one is a location square.  Back in 2005, I had the opportunity to travel to Grand Cayman Island... while mom and I were there, we decided to visit the Stingray Sandbar tour they offered.  The water, I kid you not, was 50 Shades of Blue.  Brights, darks and everything in between - it was a breathtaking sight that photos cannot duplicate.  This square reminds me of those waters...

Day 10 - 8.17.13 - I had a busy day today, so I whipped up this li'l square rather quickly. My sister-in-law, as mentioned above, loves frogs and the color green... so I made this one for her. :)

Day 11 - 8.18.13 - I had a not-so-good day yesterday... To be honest, frustration got the better of me and I broke down crying.  After a good long chat with hubby dear, everything was pretty much OK.  However, I wanted to get rid of some of those feelings I felt yesterday... and I wanted to burn them... so I did it with yarn.  With pottery, in order to make something stronger - it has to be broken, re-made, and put to the fire to harden.  The more this is done, the stronger it becomes.  This is what I personally want to do mentally and spiritually (and a teensy bit emotionally, too!)... because I know it isn't going to happen physically!  I sometimes think I have the body of a marshmallow (slightly fluffy and squidgey!)

Day 12 - 8.19.13 - I finally got back to working on pony squares!  As soon as I saw this pattern, Princess Cadence came to mind... so this one is for her... :)  New square, new character! It's a little oddly shaped, but it's just got character... it'll be alright. :)

Well, so far, that's all... I may post every once in a while on this project - just to keep you updated. :)

Hope you enjoyed seeing my current work in progress!  We'll see you next time!

Happy Crocheting!

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic - Fluttershy-themed Saddlebag Backpack

Okay, okay, OKAY!  I've promised over the last few posts that this was coming and, well, here we are... (I've still got one more completed project to show you - a shoulder shrug, by the way - before I start showing off current works in progress. I need better photos of it... without me in it. XD)

This was a two-week saga.  I worked on this tirelessly - at home, at work, at crochet group... even right up to the last moment before my prayer meeting got started those two weeks!  It took a whole Caron Baby One-Pounder skein in yellow, and quite a bit of one in pink.

Before I start discussing it in detail, I just want to say that there was no pattern for what I was doing... none.  Like the lyre for the Lyra blanket, I had to come up with the schematics for this on my own.  I looked for at least 2 weeks in advance for backpack patterns and they were all in the round or looked too childish in construction for me to take seriously (to want to present this as a gift to someone quite special to my life).  I knew, if I wanted the bag to look the way I'd envisioned it, I would need to come up with the schematics for it, myself.

(a flat view of the finished bag - the butterflies didn't want to lay flat at that moment. XD)

First question: How do I want this to be used? To carry not just light things, but heavier things, too.
Second Question: How big should it be?  I wanted this to be big enough to carry at least 5 full sized D&D/Pathfinder books and still retain its square shape.
Third Question: How in the hay am I going to get this thing to retain shape?!  At that point, I had no clue.... o_O'

So, I finally boiled it down to creating this in 6 parts before putting it all together: 2 large rectangular panels (front and back), 1 long narrow panel (sides and bottom), 1 flap, 2 straps.  I had a plan, now - to crochet it!

With my trusty N/9mm hook in hand, I pulled the yarn from both the outside and the middle (I, at least, have a yarn-baller now, so I won't run into this problem ever again) and made the front, back, bottom/sides, and flap using two strands of yarn at the same time - all in hdc, pulled tightly to firm it up.  The straps were constructed using the same two-strand method, but in pink (5 loooooooong rows, rather than hundreds of short rows).  Once I'd done all that... my fourth question quickly arose: HOW am I going to put this TOGETHER?! >_O!

Answer: carefully!  I used my stitch markers and some safety pins to hold everything together, so I could (at least) get a sense of how it would look all together... but then I had to figure out, did I want to whip stitch everything together, then flip the seams on the inside?  Well, I tried that first... It didn't exactly work. >_<'  I wanted a bit more pink in there, so I used a decorative X stitch on the edges... yeah, it wasn't doing it for me... It was too light and looked a bit washed out against all of the yellow... so - I figured I needed to go BOLD!  I got the bag taken back apart, and got the straps and flap attached to the back panel before pinning it all back together.  Then I started TIGHTLY whip stitching it all together, edging it in pink as I went along.  When the sides and bottoms were finished, I edged the opening at the top, and the flap, and even made a crease on the bottom in the corners and edged it tightly to give it a seam in those two places.

As far as closing it was concerned, I'd created two small chains as catches on the underside of the flap for large wooden buttons that I would later attach to act as the closure.

But now, I had a finished bag!  ...but Fluttershy has a big pink butterfly on her bag!  This bag needed one, too!  TO GOOGLE!!   Yeah, all of the crocheted butterfly patterns looked wrong or were too small... EVERY! SINGLE! ONE! that I tried never was big enough to cover the palm of my hand... So I finally figured, "...forget this!!"  I took the "XL sized" butterfly pattern (UPDATED: Here's the link to Little Birdie Secrets for the butterflies.) and made three... like Fluttershy's cutie mark, used the minty green Caron (like in the Lyra blanket) for the body and antennae before tacking them all together (one on top, two on bottom - like her mark) and attached them to the very bottom edge of the flap - right in the center.

(an up close shot of the butterflies - you can see the chained latches that hook onto the buttons.)

When it was finished - it was time to attach the buttons and test it out!  We filled this bag with 5-6 full sized D&D books and IT RETAINED ITS SHAPE!  I did it!  *Whee~! Happy dance!*

(I tried to fluff it out completely before I took this picture, but meh, that right side just didn't want to fluff!)

So, there you have it - my first fully free-handed project!  It was HARD not sharing photos of this one back when I finished it in MAY. XD

Oh well, the surprise was well worth it when I saw the look on my best friend's face. :)

Well, everyone, I'm off to bed for the night. Hope you've enjoyed the spam posting that I've done tonight!

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic - Twilight Sparkle Beanie

This project literally took no time at all.  I've gotten pretty good enough at beanies to only take 2 days to do one.  My friend (whom most of my custom pony swag has gone to) used to favor Twilight Sparkle before Fluttershy became their "best pony."  So, I wanted to commemorate this!

Using my trusty I-hook, I cranked this bad boy out using Red Heart's With Love in "Grape Jam."  This has all of the perfect colors I needed and crocheted very well!  It almost looks sort of camo, now that I think about it.

This project also marks my first attempt at embroidery.  I'll be more than happy to be the first to admit, the embroidery isn't my best work, but was my fifth attempt at it, and it wasn't getting a whole lot better as time went on.  However, I did use some of the best yarn in my collection (the pink) to create Twilight's pink 6 pointed star, and the mystery white from Rabbit Moon to create the 5 accent stars that comprise her complete cutie mark.  (Should have been a clue right there about the whole "Elements of Harmony" thing don'cha think?)

Anyway, I digress - it's short, sweet, and here's a photo of the finished beanie:

It fit my friend like a glove!  YAAAAY!  I just thought about something, though... So, you heard it here first, folks: my local yarn shop (Rabbit Moon) has a chemo cap brigade to make caps for people with cancer - this cause is near and dear to my heart, and I would love to join it, if I can ever find the time.

The reason why this is near and dear to my heart? I've got 2 close relatives who are both cancer survivors - an aunt who beat breast cancer, and my dad who beat lymphoma.  While my dad was being treated, he received a hunter green hand-crocheted beanie cap to keep his head warm.  They were just hanging on a little hat-tree thing, offered to anyone with a note detailing this woman's prayer for that cap recipient to get better (he did, we got the all-clear back in February!). This touches my heart still, nearly a year later, and I would like to pay it forward. :)

Well, folks, happy crocheting!

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic - Lyra "lap-ghan"

This is the first blanket that I attempted to make with the round baby blanket pattern that I mentioned in my previous post... (that blanket, by the way, was crocheted using an N/9mm hook).  This one, I used an almost-fingering weight Caron minty green/teal-ish yarn for the base color and with a mystery yarn (it didn't have a tag) that I picked up from my local yarn shop, Rabbit Moon, as an accent color.  Every 10 rows, to break the monotony, I just switched colors for a round and immediately switched back at the end.  The white ends didn't quite match up all of the time (^^') and kind of makes it look like a bulls eye a bit, but I was quite happy with the way the blanket turned out.

(A shot of the finished blanket)

Thankfully, you can't really tell it from here, and the lyre covers up the parts that don't quite match up.  I used an I/5.5mm hook, and every single stitch was half-double crochet (hdc) until I got to the edge of the blanket, then I did 3 rows of treble crochet (tr) with a final row of single crochet (sc) to tack up any loose threads.

The only reason why this is a lap afghan rather than a full sized blanket is because I started running out of the Caron! XD  Whoopsie!  I'd gotten the yarn from my sister-in-law after I thought it was perfect for another project (the aforementioned saddlebag backpack, again - that post is coming, I promise!), so it's not like I could go to the nearest Hobby Lobby or Michael's to look for more...

Well, once I got finished with the main blanket, I had one very big challenge ahead of me... the lyre. HOW in the FLIPPIN' HAY was I going to accomplish THIS feat?!  I started out the way I always do in this type of situation - GOOGLE.... not to the rescue this time, it seems. :L  Well, what's a gal to do in this situation?  FREE-HAND IT!!!

(A closer shot of just the lyre)

I'd already had the silver-blue on hand for the strings... If you'll remember, the patchwork granny square blanket used the Vanna White Lion Brand color for my squares to denote Derpy Hooves. I had plenty left over, and I thought it would look great, so I set it aside.  I needed yellow though... I had plenty of gold or pale yellow, but I needed YELLOW, but not a lot of it... so I picked up a ball of the needed color by Peaches and Cream.  So... now, how to go about making the lyre?  I figured I would need two pieces: the first would be the first ball and top part, the second the second ball and the curved part.  To be honest, I know I made 2 rounds in double crochet (dc) for each round ball (1st round - 6 dc; 2nd round - 12 dc) and just built off of each one until I got the necessary shape.  When the curve was long enough, I tacked it onto the ball of the second piece, then the top part into the ball of the first piece.  Then I switched colors to the VW/LB silver-blue, slip stitched (sl) then made small chains until I could reach the opposite end, made another sl and tied it off and then wove in any ends all three times.  I whip stitched the lyre down on both the inside and outside, but left the three strings free so they can be played with a bit. :)

(a shot of the Lyra lapghan.)

I have to admit, I genuinely impressed myself with the creativity on the lyre.  That happens very rarely, so I'm proud of this piece.  I made this (plus the mentioned, soon-to-come saddlebag backpack and a beanie) for one of my best friends' special day.  They were thrilled to get a blanket based on their favorite background pony!

So there you have it!  My third MLP blanket - you've already seen my second (the patchwork granny square baby blanket)... the first I gave away (to the same person, but for last Christmas) before I could get photos of it... It was based on Fluttershy. :)  They still show that blanket off to their friends! ^^

Anyway, happy crocheting!

Project: Hexagonal Baby Blanket (boys)

I have a friend who 'til very recently was expecting a new little baby boy to add to her family. Great news, he's arrived safe, sound, and healthy!  Well, while my friend was pregnant with the bundle of joy, I wanted to create blanket just for him.

For some reason, I wanted something DIFFERENT.  I wanted a ROUND blanket.  I googled and searched, and finally managed to come across a pattern for a round baby blanket... I followed the directions of this pattern to a T... and guess what happened?  Another happy mistake!  Instead of a round baby blanket, I got one that was a bit more polygonal...

(Here's a photo of the finished blanket.)

I knew going in to this pattern exactly what would happen, because I'd already made this kind of blanket before (which I'll discuss in another post.)  It's all done in hdc (half-double crochet) but every 10 rounds, I did a row of treble crochet (tr) to break up the monotony and give it a bit of character without having to change colors.  On the very outer edge, I did do a row of single crochet (sc) in order to tack up any loose threads.

(A closer look at the blanket.)

Now the little one is about a good 4 days old, and I want to get this to his mommy as soon as I can... but I've really just not been able to break away from work. T^T  This would work well as a receiving blanket or a light one to lay over a little one while they sleep.  The yarn came from the Caron one-pound baby yarn skein.

I'll see if I can find the pattern again.  If I can, I'd be more than happy to link it for you to try. :)

Happy crocheting!
